The farmer's market.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself this new life I'm living isn't a dream. The previous months before college, I fell in love with the idea of small cafes, farmer's markets, bookstores, new friends, and days outside adventuring. All my dreams have come true.

One rainy morning an amazing group of people and I ventured through a small farmer's market lining the edges of the roadside. It was damp and quaint and perfect. We later meandered through a bookstore snuggled into the corner of a building, and I sort of fell in love with books all over again. The worn pages and colorful hard covers stole my heart for half an hour. I walked away with two treasures made of paper and filled with ideas.

One word: grateful.

  1. Ahhh I love all the books.

So glad to see you back! I assume you're going to college in New Mexico. :) We're going to Albequerque for the balloon festival in a few weeks. :)

  8. I think that college is sort of like a dream in that you get to mature but still have some distance between "real world" responsibilities. I love being at this stage right now. Also, the stacks of books make me want to be surrounded by dusty, worn pages.

  11. There is a bookstore in Eastern Market in D.C. (which you would love!) that has a window stacked full of books turned every which way. It is sort of jarring to the senses until you go inside and see floor to ceiling amazingness: books and books and books. Sigh. Makes me miss that bookstore and the happy hours I spent tucked in there!

  15. Dearest perfect one,

Oh, how I have missed you. So, easy to say, yet so hard to make you believe how true it is. I miss you.
But, I want you to be having the most amazing time. I don't want to miss you. I want to wish you all the best, and try my darnedest not to wish I was there also.

I said I would call you the other day (haha, that you thought the text message was from Kalei... really can you imagine her saying something so mean?) but I was whisked off to the beach. I feel bad, and insanely jealous of Kalei who got to hear you gorgeous voice. I'm sorry. I will call you though. I'm almost hoping you won't respond because I'm curious as to what it would be like to leave a message.

Anyway, nuff' rambling. Your pictures, your words, are loveliness. And I am wholeheartedly in love with those books! Have you found wonderful little nooks in you campus yet? I am dying to know what it looks like. I love that first picture! Most passionately. What books did you find?

Well, I suppose I'll go. Commenting doesn't seem the appropriate place for all the questions I want to ask. For the certain questions I want to ask.

    I love and miss you.
    Love,
The (*eyeroll*) sweet sixteen year old

    1. My dear friendo,

I've missed you, too! It's hard to believe how far apart we are geographically. Crazy, eh? You should come over and give me a visit so that you could be here also. ;)

And no, I certainly knew that text message was from you. Haha. We had better have another phone conversation, too! I miss your voice!

Yes, there are quite a few nice spots on campus. I particularly love the third floor of the library, but there are lots of outdoor spots all over campus, too. Though I usually just like to stay in my room whenever I get the chance to rest because most days I'm all over the place. I'll be trying to get some photos of the campus soon. Oh, and in that particular bookstore I got a book called, Life with Father (one of Nathan's favorites) and something by Sinclair Lewis just because of the pretty cover (shallow, I know).

Anyhoo, I'll stop before this becomes a novel.

      Love you to pieces,
      The crazy college student

  18. I like farmers markets. I like rainy days. I also happen to like chicken soup. But you have to do it just right, otherwise it tastes like chicken soup.
